Cool What exhaust do you recommend for a 2007 R1? - January 20, 2011, 03:03 PM

I am asking for a buddy.
I did a quick search and not to much luck.(i only searched for 2min hahaha feeling lazy)

My boy has a 2007 R1. He is looking for an exhaust to put on it. What do you recommend and why do you prefer said brand. If you got a video clip or sound bite even better.

Much thanks.

No nonsense please.

man i honestly think a set of AnR race baffles with a akro Y pipe sounds the best and with a power commander tuned right makes a beast of a machine ! minus the low end non existing power from the motor

yeah, hands down I have always been a Akra fan...
They do spend alot of time on R&D and focus on pipes that create a nice flow of mids on up. Sometimes there pipes dont give the Highest HP # out, but overall it creates more real usable power over just a HP number.

And I also like them because they have a deeper tonal range over high pitched sound. Deep throaty sound. And Nice looking cans.

But GOD THEY COST !!!!!!!

I think it depends on what your friend is looking for? By no means I am an expert but if its just sound then AR race baffles will do. I think an youtube search would be a good idea. You can go as crazy as TOCE, which I liked except they did not flow with R1. Good luck for your friend as I know its a big decision.

^^ +1

What is your friend looking for? Performance? Sound? Looks? Full Exhaust? Can Only?

I personally do not care about performance so I don't need a full exhaust. I don't care about brands so I'm not limited by the name. I primarily care about sound and looks. I want a nice throaty sound that's not too loud or too "race like". And I like unique looks. So what I've found for my 03 gixxer 750 that fits exactly what I'm looking for is the Holeshot High Mount slip on. But that's just my personal preference. The only modification I would make to it would be to cut off 3-4 inches to make it like a mid-shorty.

Plus it allows me to keep the rear pegs which is important also. And I don't have to worry about my girl's shoes pushing down on the muffler and potentially burning her. My only concern with Holeshot is whether the can gets hot like the stock ones or stays relatively cool like the carbon fiber ones.
