Yamaha Dealers Reviews - November 4, 2008, 12:02 PM

Hi Folks,

I'm interested in everyone's thoughts on the DC area's Yamaha dealers in terms of quality of service, price, etc. I recently bought a used Yamaha FZ6 and I'd like to know of a quality dealer to go to when needed. Here's a list of Yamaha dealers from Yamaha's website:

HEYSER YAMAHA SALES
LAUREL, MD 20707-4949

ELLICOTT CITY MOTORSPORTS
ELLICOTT CITY, MD 21042-2283

CHAMPION MOTORSPORTS
STERLING, VA 20166-9451

COLEMAN POWER SPORT
FALLS CHURCH, VA 22046-4413

LOUDOUN MOTORSPORTS & POWER EQUIP
LEESBURG, VA 20175-3709

FREESTATE CYCLE
CAPITOL HEIGHTS, MD 20743-3604

I have a personal friend at Battleys and he has been a motorcycle mechanic for at least 20+ years. He is BMW, Yamaha and HD certified. I have had good experiences there but it is a very busy place, for a reason.

Criswell, I have bought a few bikes there and had pistons installed on a bike there. I never had a problem with service. The dyno guy that was there, it has been a few years, will admit he is no tuner but for diagnostics and numbers only really. They are moving or closing not sure which.

I bought a bike from Frederick yamaha. Father and son run company. The mechanics I had work on my bike years ago were very knowledgable and seemed like they still enjoyed working on bikes. Some mechanics it is just a job but he seemed to still be really interested in doing the best he could.

I really like the guys at Cycle Sport. They were able to quickly diagnose some minor problems that I had with my old FZR and fix them right away. I had one disappointing experience when the tech didn't bolt the throttle cable adjuster tight enough (with the obvious result). But the guys are knowledgeable and helpful.

I had a good experience at Colemans FC when I got my 07 at the beginning of the summer. Even got a decent deal, got it w/700mi for 7300 OTD while it still had 10mths on the factory warranty.

Is the place open yet? I saw people working on the building during thanksgiving week so I assumed it wasn't ready.

That's great news! I'm glad they are going with the new red and white scheme...I think it is a sharp look and will distinguish them (yamaha and CP) from the rest. I will definately stop in when I get back NoVa.
