I was thinking the same thing, but then I read on another forum, he broke the bike down like this:

Base R1..............................$11,299
Ohlins Forks..........................$2470
Ohlins Superbike internals.......$1740
Ohlins Shock.........................$1098
Ohlins Damper.......................$519
Custom Triple Tree.................$950
Akrapovic Pipe.......................$1985
Carbonfiber wheels.................$4299
AP Racing Brakes....................$1660
STM Slipper clutch.................$1287
Rear Sets...............................$500
Carbon fiber panels & fenders....$1000+?
Power commander...................$300
Sprockets, chain, windscreen.....$300

That brings your total up to $30,407

I didn't add in:
Custom paint...................$$$$$$
Valve Job........................$$$$$$
Port & Polish...................$$$$$$
Race head gasket.............$$$$$$
Suspension optimization....$$$$$$
Quick shifter....................$$$$$$
Labor........$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
and yes profit...................$$$$$$

They had that bike at the AMA VIR races. It was even better looking in person.

It's a cool looking bike, no doubt... AND it's got the sweet premium bin parts and upgrades, but for the money, I'd rather have an MV Agusta and some upgrades, or an RSV nero and call it a day....

2001 GSXR 1000 (The bike that lit the afterburner on the liter class world)
2012 Monster 1100 Evo
2003 Yamaha YZFR6 (track only)

mmm... carbon fiber

What you're failing to realize, is that it has Jamie James' name on it. Built by him and his guys personally.

That means alot to quite a few people.

Right up the 1 hole.

Exactly, and the point is even with that you are getting a good bike price well with the setup they chose to use. If any of us did those adjustments it would be over a period of time and we normally forget how much we put into our bikes.

Base 06 R1............................ $11,299
Ohlins Shock......................... $1,098
Ohlins Damper....................... $419
Akrapovic Pipe....................... $1,985
STM Slipper clutch.................. $1,287

Total $16,388 + labor

Sure it would have been nice o have some more motor work and maybe even a different paint scheme. But the bike is reasonably price for what your getting. Plus the fact that some of the best mechanics in the business has set this bike up.

However, it is not for the average rider! Most wont be able to afford let alone ride that thing to its capability.
