Yamaha R1 Owners, questions. - September 9, 2008, 07:39 PM

I had a few questions for you guys/gals.
Do you havea ny regrets on your purchase/which other 1000 would you have purchased if you could go back?
What is your biggest gripe about your bike?
What weird/odd problems do you have?
Are there any stability problems you encountered?
How does your R1 stack up against other 1000s you've ridden with?
Still trying to make up my mind, if the R1 can be made as fast as the GSXR 1000 or ZX10 with minor effort I think that is the way I'll go. If only I could find one a newer one for $4000 in mint condition, lol.

where are you getting this idea that a gsxr or a zx10 is so much faster out of the crate?

When I came to, the general back-alley ambience of the suite was so rotten, so incredibly foul. How long had I been lying there? All these signs of violence. What had happened? There was evidence in this room of excessive consumption of almost every type of drug known to civilized man since 1544 AD. What kind of addict would need all these coconut husks and crushed honeydew rinds? Would the presence of junkies account for all these uneaten french fries? These puddles of glazed ketchup on the bureau? Maybe so. But then why all this booze? And these crude pornographic photos smeared with mustard that had dried to a hard yellow crust? These were not the hoofprints of your average God-fearing junky. It was too savage. Too aggressive.

It was in one of the sporbike mags recently. It compared all of the fast bikes, I forget the name though.

How long have you been riding? How much experience do you have? Have you got WOT? Do you know anything about tires?

If you only have $4000 to spend, whatever 1000 you get is probably not going to walk a ZX10, etc. assuming all other factors (rider) are equal.

Dang, no one wanted to answer? Guess I hit a nerve. Carnage, I've been riding for a little over 3 years. "On a closed course" I've indicated 182 on a GSXR 600 if it really matters. LOL riding on an old "poop" FZR 600 I have to go WOT on the highway just to keep the tailights in sights. Chris is a God, I've sat on 2 R1s at the dealership, they feel a little better than the GSXR 1000 to me.

So I take it you guys have no regrets with your R1 purchases?

how does sitting on one in anyway make you qualified to ride one? 182 on a 600? that statement alone makes you toolish.

Sitting on one doesn't mean I'm qualified or unqualified silly, it simply is. Again, how does 182 indicated on a 600 make me toolish? Sounds like I represent something you just don't like. I can't tell you the exact speed cuz I don't know it! Do you want me to fly past the cops and ask for a radar printout?

Do you have an R1? What are the pros and cons to it? If not, then I'm not even sure why you're bashing me.
