Exclamation *** $78.00 Magnavox Blu-ray: Cheap X-Mas Gift*** - December 12, 2009, 04:28 AM

$78.00 Magnavox Blu-ray Disc Player, NB500MG1F

So they ran out of Blu-Rays durring the Wal-Mart Black Friday sale. Well they have it again and online this time.

1 WEEK ONLY....if that long....

Cheap blu-ray that you can give to your parents or non techie people n shit.

I just ordered 2 of them for my guest room TV and Bedroom set. Im getting the PS3 for my Main big set.

Not bad for secondary Blu-Rays and great for gifts. You will look like you spent serious mone.

Ok so $78 for the player, fcuking $4.75 for damn internet tax and 0.97 shipping.

reviewers took a shart on it....

Blu ray is where its at. I have a ps3 wich works great. If people cant afford a ps3 i would recommend this player. I would think a cheap blu ray is still better than dvd.

A lot of the components in the magnivox are the same you'll find in many asian brands.... that said the reason Magnivox is cheaper is the quality control... they do tend to crap out at a higher rate than, say, a Sony or Phillips.

I will say this... it's digital, and like digital it either works or it doesn't. Either the signal is good or it's not. So really this should have the same resolution on a TV as any other player. Its not like analogue on a sliding scale of quality. Gold contacts won't help you here.

Magnavox is Philips. They use it for brand positioning.

I'm sure they share components/tech. At what level is unclear, could be all to save on prod costs. They seem to have some pretty good bang/buck.

Well you know that all blu rays upconverts standard dvd's so its a win win.

Yea thats why I was gonna get the blue ray now, plays the dvds for family movie night, but in a year or two when they stop making standar dvds we wouldnt need a new BR player, however if this thing is gonna crap out after being used twice a month for 2 years, Ill but a $30 DVD for the interim.
