10TB Worth Of Free Cloud Storage - September 26, 2013, 06:38 PM

Granted, you have to be able to descramble Chinese and well, it's Chinese, which means they're reading your 'ish.

However, this isn't some dicey fly by night company. They're the 4th largest internet company behind Goog and Amazon, and are four times larger than Yahoo!

TNW Asia - Asia's Technology Blog about Internet Life, Business and Culture. Part of The Next Web Network.

Yesterday we reported that Chinese tech giants Baidu and Qihoo 360 are currently courting users with 1TB of free space, putting the free space given by Dropbox, Box and Microsoft to shame.

Today another Chinese tech company Tencent has upped the game, offering a jaw-dropping 10TB worth of free storage. Yes, that’s a whopping 10 times more than the already-shocking 1TB being offered.

The promotion is ongoing, so those who want to get your hands on this staggering 10TB worth of space had better be quick.

This latest move, besides being beneficial for consumers, will also likely put pressure on cloud storage services, which often give away set amounts of free storage space as an incentive for users to sign up. Dropbox has offered free space amounts ranging from 25-50GB as part of promotional deals with Samsung and HTC, Box has offered 50GB of free storage with file-size limitations before, and just this week Microsoft upped the storage space for its SkyDrive Pro offering from 7GB to 25GB.

Ding Ding Ding... My thoughts exactly. I should open one and then just upload anything malicious I can to hopefully hit a few of their systems.

Could care less if they snoop on it.

I would agree, except.. I wouldn't trust the file when I pull it back from their server. Maybe if md5 all my files before upload. 10tb is a shit ton.

Might sign-up fir a few accounts then just upload a few tb of corrupted files just to waste their space

I can't believe anyone would entertain the notion of putting data on anything hosted or managed in China. That's not a racist comment--I know and adore many first generation Chinese in this country. It's political. The PRC would love nothing more than for us to be so gullible. I'm sure they have sat in many a meeting room discussing how best to take us apart, and time and again I bet someone brings up taking advantage of our greed and foolish arrogance.
