Nice. I saw the same technique 5 years ago @ the Grammys. With Gorillaz x De La Soul x Madonna
But it looks like they advanced the concept. They were able to get the lighting and shading on the subject spot on to match the lighting of the venue.

I expect this to be a future aspect of concerting and a new revenue stream.
Major artists could partner up with major venues to virtually re-play their earlier concerts. Image being able to go back to the original "live" U2 - Zoo TV concert. Or the Jay-Z & Biggie concert at the Apollo in 96. I'd probably pay $20-30 bucks for that experience.

I grew up with 90's rap too and it's definitely my favorite. I can't knock things for evolving though. I'm not so worried about lil wayne wanting to wear super duper tight pants. What matters to me most is lyrical content. And, what's more gay, lil wayne's pants or this:
