Arrow 2 Residencies and Gun Laws - March 31, 2017, 08:02 PM

I guess this may be a simple question, but I have my main house in DC that my car drivers license is in, and a vacation house in Lancaster Va. I'm not a gun fanatic, but I do feel at times I may need something other than my Machete to help fend off someone or wild animal.
I had long thought about it, but have no idea how do it work.

Can I legally apply for a gun license in va as a part time resident? with no drivers lic in va?
If I was able to get one in Va can I bring it to DC (separated) in case I wanted to go to a local range?

Also enjoy higher taxes, property taxes on every vehicle you own (including non registered if I remember correctly), and issues parking at your main house if you are zoned and not in the garage.

Just register for a gun in DC. It's not that hard. Take that gun to VA when you go.

Unless you plan on buying lots of them. Or ones that are banned in DC. Then go the VA resident route.

Then again... That's just me.

I'm pretty sure that regardless of where you live, you have to obey the local laws. At least that's the way it is in MD. For example, if I can carry in VA, I still can't carry in MD.

Yep. That's why it's better to get his DC license. VA laws are more lax. SO if he obeys the DC laws. He'll be fine going into VA. But going by the VA laws and going into DC?....not so much.

LOL

Also enjoy higher taxes: better schools, = better performance on restate value.

property taxes on every vehicle you own: lower insurance

issues parking at your main house if you are zoned and not in the garage.: HOA determined. Most of us like me have space for 3 cars plus my garage.

I'm a dual resident and registering for a gun in DC is not as simple as you think. 7 fire rings. I wrote about how arduous and intentionally disenfranchising the process is - doubly so if you don't already have weapons and have to purchase them from the ONE legally licensed dealer in D.C.

I got so frustrated with the process I decided to just keep them in MD.

Really only for some invasion type shit lol.

I had a shady character who I hired to do some work...he drove to my property in the middle of the week when I am usually not home..and was surprised to see me, but made it as if he came to see me.

Also another person he did work for said someone came in and stole shit out the house....
How hard is it to do DC registration. Everything I read a few years ago said it was the worst process in history and made to make you give up.

How far are you in your process and do you have to do it online (i hope so)

it would cost me way more to register Va as my main house.

DC offer a HUGE tax break on residence. My house is valued at $750k range and my taxes (that keep going up) is only $1,890 a year.

My house in Va is valued at $230k and the taxes (holding steady for at least the last 6 years) is $1320.

DC you only pay tax on vehicles one time.
its based on weight.

Cars/trucks under 3500 lbs = 6% tax
Cars/trucks Over 3500 lbs = 7% tax

current registered vehicles are.
Bikes tags = $50 No inspection required
2016 ZX10R
2011 ZX10R
2011 R6

Cars/Trucks = $87 car, $115 truck emissions only every 2 years = $35
2005 G35 coupe
2005 Frontier

Rec vehicles id have to pay tax on in VA if I switched...

2009 WR250 dirt bike
2000 Yamaha XL800 Jet ski
2000 Yamaha XL800 Jet ski
1997 Yamaha wave runner Jet ski
1995 Yamaha wave runner Jet ski

when I went to register the jet skis the local power sport shop said its gets expensive. I cant remember the registration cost, but Id also pay tax on it early.

DC Harbor patrol was super easy. All online and cost is $25 per year each...One time tax was also about $25.

Also, one thing I found out is that Va residents are charged more for traffic violations vs. out of state offenders.

Von, check PM.
A medium long read, but I've outlined a guide for you.

Got it....

No matter what, I want 100% legality ...

since my drivers license is DC...but I really want the pistol to leave in Va legally.
Just trying to see how i can do that.

You would think this would be a non issue.

Hey Guys,

Its a real shame that Hillary didnt win last Fall, otherwise we could have some common sense gun laws as opposed to the current laws that strip DC residents of their Consitutional rights. The current laws mustve been put in place by racist Republicans to disenfranchise DC blacks.
