2011/2012 HD TV Shootout - December 15, 2011, 11:41 AM

TVs were all calibrated and the test was run by a group of TV Broadcast engineers w/20 years experience, so you know this isn't some CNet assessment. Thorough testing on their part. Probably better than what Consumer Reports does.

Surprisingly, an LED LCD won and not a Plasma. The Elite Pro-60X5FD

Video going through their testing and qualification procedures.

I am not even close to a TV pro, but for the price alone, I would go with the TC-P65VT30

Good review. The TC is not far behind, but what I love about the Pannys are that you can find them for GREAT prices. It's the best bang for the buck IMO. I love my S1, and I paid a really good price for it a little over two years ago.

Also Plasma's are great "dark room" TVs.

Yes, the Panny's at the moment are the best mid-high end TVs and give you good performance for the dollar.

It helps their cause that they're one of the only companies who make their own panels outside of Samsung and LG.

Also to whoever, when you buy a TV, head over to avsforum.com and search for a thread for that TV. There will be lots of settings for that certain TV that will really wake it up. Try different ones if you'd like.

I went through the burn process on my Panny and tried a couple of settings until I found the one I like. The picture is AMAZING, especially in the dark.

Vizio can go either way. A cheap Vizio will probably suck. Their higher end models will be a great value.

I agree. The higher end Vizios are actually quite good value for money.
