The 2012 BMW 3-Series (F30 Chassis) - October 17, 2011, 05:48 PM

I don't how I feel about BMW anymore. Ever since Bangle left, their styling has taken a nose dive for me. For decades the BMW 3-Series was defined by short overhangs, short hood, wheels pushed to corners. This latest styling on the 7, 5 and now 3 series where they're pushing the cab back and lengthening the hood looks wonky on the 3 Series.

Not to mention the nose of the car droops downward while the underside comes up. The cabin and is too tall, and belt line too low. It looks like a greenhouse riding on the body.

I don't know what's going on over in Munich, but they better lay off the weinerschnitzel and alsterwasser and get their design swag back.

ugh, do not want...definite step back.

It looks cheaper and more generic in my opinion. The Merc is much better looking, at least in photos.

The rear is about the same, maybe a touch better even, but the nose...blah, just don't like it, no matter how I look at it.

Confusing the issue, since before you were ugly.

I agree.
Worse, it looks like BMW pulled a "4s" on us with this design.

Mine was better bishes... honestly the e46 m3 was the best looking m3. The e9Xs were not so bad either. Not sure about the new one but may grow on me. I have to say though the W204 Mercedes is a very well balanced vehicle. Much larger inside, and cheaper too.

I concur. The E46 was the best design save for the E30 flared fender M3. (Pssst... BMW, bring back the flared fenders).
I still haven't warmed up to the new E9X M3 and probably never will.

So this is what your "Free Candy" mobile looks like, eh.

I wonder if they really are going to make all coupes even numbers...so the coupe will be the 4 series and M4.

Yeah, I must join the bandwagon too. The new design sucks!!! But you knew it was coming when they unvieled the new 7 design, which isnt too hard on the eye for the larger series. But not for the 3!!
