2016 Coleman Auction wrap-up - April 2, 2016, 03:53 PM

Large turnout, lots of children in tow this year, mostly decent running everyday bikes at OK prices. Some examples:
Sharp and nice running 2003 Yamaha XVS1100, 12,500 miles, $1300.
2010 KawZX1000, 14,709 miles, $4,400.
Near mint 2011 Honda CBR250R, 2,112 miles, $1,700.
Nice 2006 Suzuki GSXR600, 6,522 miles, $2600.
2007 GSXR 600, 14,887 miles, $3100.
2009 GSXR, 750, 1,263 miles but just OK running shape, $4,600.
2002 Yamaha YZFR1, 12,084 MILES, Steering damper, $3,000.
2003 Polaris Sportsman 600 4x4, good shape, $1,500.
Decked-out 2014 Goldwing, 8,000 miles, $14,000.
(Personal) watercraft all sold cheaply. The trailers they were sitting on were worth more.
A few Honda generators, $300 range.
Cheap gas seems to have gutted the scooter market. They all went on the cheap.
Terms were 10% surcharge for buyers, and for those bikes brought in for sale 10% selling fee + $25 auction fee to the sellers.
High-ticket items like a minty H-D with sidecar, a 2014 Vstar 1300 Deluxe with 900 miles+under warranty, and a few Can-Ams did not sell.
Hot dogs n' lemonade.

Forgot to mention the 2004 Ducati 998 Matrix that some old dude dropped right before the auction. Went for $3k even with the big ole crack in the special edition lower fairing. Pretty sure he bounced as soon as he picked it back up.

When you say Kawi ZX1000, do you mean ZX10 or Z1000? Really, that's a smoking deal for either one of them.

Sold my Aprilia at the auction.

The ninja was a ZX10R. There was a nice Ninja 1000 that didn't get sold. The k6 was a steal, was tempted...

Also was surprised the k9 went for so much with the frame damage (but clean title). Guess you can overlook such things when there are bright, sky blue Auctmart fairings to look at.

I saw that earlier tonight, funny it's the same one. Looks like it's been down given the mismatched fairings.

Well that was fast! That's the one. Quickest flip ever! But usually takes a few days for the dealer to stamp the title as a reseller and put the auction winner's name on it.

Hidden damage is a huge problem at as-is auctions. That's why you have to not get carried away and pay full fare for a bike- leave some cushion to allow for some eventualities, and also be willing to roll the dice. There is some fun in the risk of the unknown. Buy from Mr. flip and you get the worst of both worlds...

Do they at least start it and let people hear that it's running normal?

Agreed. Also there were nice bikes missing.... I saw a 2012 r1 listed, but never was cautioned. And couple others.

Yes, they try to start the bike and have a checklist of whether it has a title/ mechanic's lien, runs, and how many keys but if it doesn't kick over promptly or lacks a battery you don't know. it's run for just a moment, and just in first gear. When examining that many bikes in a short time it's easy to overlook things.
