78 deg + Tax Refund = OH CRAP (new toy) - March 14, 2006, 06:58 AM

Yeah so....
I got a good chunk back from uncle sam and I felt it was time to get the car I have been eying for over a year now. Next month is the last month you can order one. After that, it will be a 2 year wait before it comes out with more HP and the new body style.
I dont particullary like the new body style that much..
So after I got permission from the man of the house, we went and picked this baby up on saturday.

This car is just plain sick. Now on the nice days I have to decide to drive top down or take the bike. *sigh

Nice, you got the nicer package with the 19s!

Those tires are gonna be money when time comes to replace...

SMG, you will not like very much even you set it to engage hard....

I got the 6 speed.

I bought the tire/rim warrenty, so that should help somewhat.
Prolly wont cover when the tires are worn under "normal" use...
Think its about $300/ tire..

I drove one at Richmond BMW while ours was being serviced. It's silly fast and sticks to the road better than I thought cars could.

I didnt buy into the hype of BMW's for quite some time. When my fiancee got her 330i last year, the salesman let me test drive an M3. I couldt get the shit grin off my face. Since driving the 330i i havnt stopped thinking about the M3.

The 330 has the performace and appearance package on it. So it has a lot of the M3 look already. On sat when lisa and I drove the coupe, she said why do you want this, it is almost exactly the same as my car as mine except the engine. I said um..... she continued and said why dont you get the convertible to at least make it a lot different.
78 degrees out I couldnt argue.

The lifters are making a LOUD ticking sound right now. The master mechanic said it is normal for the first 1200 miles. Since i bought it off the showroom floor, it has been sitting for a while. He said the BMWs now come with a break in oil and the car requires a service at 1200 miles to change out the oil and the noise should be gone..

Other than that annoyance.. i get to have the shit grin face anytime i want.

Yeah, ive been looking at bimmerforums....

However my problem is that after warmup the ticking is supposed to go away.

MINE DOES NOT!! It constantly ticks and doest stop. It quiets a little after it is warmed up, but definately still loud.

which is why i took it to the dealer to have the master mech look at it.
He said it is normal and will go away after about a 1000 miles. he then said what you said in that it is normal for it to tick on startup then go away after warmup..
Also said that if you track the car, it will tick after being run hard and should go away after you changet he oil..
