79 in a 55 Fairfax - August 16, 2016, 02:15 PM

Got hit about a month ago with a 79 in a 55 in ffx.

Had plus 7 or whatever the best was previous to getting pulled over.

Trying to decide if its worth it to just pay the 260 or get legaled up and see if they can get it dismissed.

option 1 legal up hope it gets dismissed. pay more now but risk it not and having to pay both

option 2 pay it and take traffic class to get back to perfect record.

if it gets dismissed does anyone know it it still hits your insurance?

thoughts.

reckless or no? Dismissed is unlikely, reduced with smaller fine very likely.

not reckless.

put in 1 mph under.

so it looks like pay more to reduce the fine. fine is less then what lawyering up seems to be.

Go to court. Admit guilt and give tell Judge what happened. He/she will give u a break as a first time offender and will reduce it. Officer will have your driving record and will tell the judge. Good luck

+5 is the max positive.

If your record truly is clean, it doesn't hurt to go in and see what the court will do for you.

I got a 72/55, went to court with a squeaky clean record, said I wanted to ask the judge for leniency. His decree was that the ticket would be dismissed if I turned in a certificate for a driver improvement course within 30 days.

No, dismissed ticket does not show up for insurance.

You got a nice cop, 20 over and they can give you reckless.

Court couldnt hurt, you could even bring in a copy of a completed drivers course with you.

Agreed. Not worth the court time/lawyer fee IMO. Be over and done with it. If you had negative Safe points would be a different story.

Make sure it is not a reckless. Most of the time anything over 20 is automatic jail time. Depends on your record. I would call the county clerk and double check that you do not have to show up. Cause if you do and dont show you will be toasted.
