Accident prone today... - May 3, 2012, 04:24 PM

well if not for my cat like reflexes I do think I would be in some pain today. All started at 645 this morning. Big blue truck runs stop sign, I am still trying to figure out how I stopped my bike and kept it on two. Slammed brakes and ass end started to come out so released and slammed again and repeat. Two nice long skid marks I pull over to the side of road, get off bike and walk it off...lol (not one person stopped to see if I was ok, FAGS!!!!...lol...Just joking about the FAG part, didnt really care. know that is a sore subject here...lol) Get to work and they send me out to MD somewhere, so while holding a "SLOW" sign for the paint crew I almost get hit a hand full of times...WTF...lol...people not see a big orange sign and peeps in yellow vest standing in the middle of the road. Oh well, going riding tonight...wish me luck...lol

Glad you weren't hurt. Here's a tip that might save your life until you become more experienced: stop using your rear brake.

After a day like this, I turn around - take the bike home - don't look or touch it for a few days.
Only so much luck in one week.

Less rear. More front. Also, if you lock the rear and it swings out, keep that sucker locked.

Remember, most of your braking is done with the front. You can't just manhandle the bike and mash both brakes. This is why the BRC, which I assume you've taken, mentions practicing emergency braking techniques

Take your ass to a parking lot and actually practice your emergency braking before you hurt yourself

BTW...you guys make me LOL...thanks...way to turn a truck pulling out in front of me into my fault...if I didnt stop I would be hurt, if not dead. but the angle of the truck i am thinking it would of thrown me into the nice soft rocks on the side of the road. So whether I used front brake, back brake, feet down...anchor...dont matter if i hit the truck that pulled out in front of me. not the other way around. bunch of insensitive fucks. none of you know my experience, none of you have been on any rides with me, and none of you know me. So until any of the 3 just listed happens, I will not take any advice from this website.

OMG THIS ADVICE SUCKS. YOU DON'T KNOW ME FGGT.

lol dude, everyone's style of riding is different.... but fact is the lion's share of your braking power does come from the front- on sportbikes especially.

I use my rear brake quite frequently, some never use it.

Lol.

Good luck bro.

That's why I said "practice your emergency braking "

Which, you don't do. Otherwise, you would have been able to apply maximum braking force without locking tires ...

But you knew that, right?

Protip, a skidding tire with slammed brakes doesn't stop you as fast as threshold braking does.

No one is being insensitive... I'm laughing that you're even using that word. You sound like a woman. quit being so sensitive and accept the fact that you almost fucked yourself with shitty, nooblike braking technique

I don't care what anyone's technique is, so long as they can threshold brake. This Guy left skidmarks, which means he's braking like the hulk.

This is a cool story about how nothing happened to this guy today.

Stop being such a pussy.

You could be laid up with a broken scapula, broken ribs, and a bruised lung. But you're not because nothing happened.
