What a wonderful idea. I wish I had the resources to do something that drastic

Saw some blurbs about this earlier. Read the article, pretty fucking awesome that there are people out there with the means and the heart to do this.

Yup, cried.

School clothes and Xmas was always purchased on layaway at KMart or Ames. Many times, put back.

Me and the wife usually help out at the homeless shelters @ Xmas, We were looking to find one in the area to help out at, or if there is anything to help homeless vets etc that would be even better!...

I tried the pay for the person behind you thing before, have no clue if it kept going or not

At my church, they set up a tree with names of children who's parents are in jail or homeless or without anything around this time of year, and collect gifts for those families.

Exactly.

I was just telling my co-worker this story last week. We had the "angle tree" in our high school cafeteria with kids from all over the county that we could buy gifts for. My g/f's and I were looking over the tree and found our friends names (brothers) from a high school across the county on the tree. They had very distinctive names, and it had their ages noted. We (myself and 4 other girls) decided to pull their names in fear that others would see their names and start running their mouths. Kids are cruel. We made a pact and purchased their items. To this day, none of ever said anything to the brothers. I remember walking into a house party after the holidays and seeing one of the brothers in one of the shirts we had got him, and I complimented him on it (it was a kickass shirt ) and he was so thrilled. I could tell he felt like "the shit" struting around in his new clothes.
