Air Force Memorial Dedication - October 12, 2006, 03:55 PM

Just a heads up it's going to be this Saturday- some of you probably saw the Thunderbirds practicing this afternoon. Where are my fellow zoomies at?

I work downtown and we just got this memo:

Air Force Fly-Over

We have been informed that seven U.S. Air Force F-16 Thunder Bird jets will be
conducting a fly-over of the District of Columbia today and tomorrow, Thursday,
October 12 and Friday, October 13 at 1:00pm. These maneuvers are planned in
conjunction with the dedication of the U.S. Air Force Memorial.

Please advise your staff of this event to prevent any undue alarm this activity may
generate.

No, I didn't go to the Academy. Zoomie is anyone in the USAF and I think Marine aviators too.

From ABC7, "Another practice flyover was planned for 11:15 a.m. Friday, with an "aerial parade" of 14 Air Force aircraft from different generations."

On Saturday I will likely be hanging out across the river listening to my scanner.

I work in Crystal City and I heard them flying overhead. Kinda scary. I found out later it was for the new Air Force Memorial.

Saw 'em fly'n over McLean today. Always fun to see. I mean...as long as they aren't firing live rounds at you or dropping ordnance.....

I saw 4 USAF Thunderbird pilots walking around Crystal City today. On my way to the HOV from the Pentagon I saw a few planes parked in the Pentagon parking lot. I think I'm going to drive into work and walk over to the Pentagon to take pictures of the festivities. Supposed to be nice out like today. Would take the metro from Springfield but the track work on there to King St would add another 30-45 minutes to my commute, no thanks.

I didn't stay for any of the flyovers but got some good shots from the Pentagon. I posted this as a bulletin on MySpace for anyone that has me as a friend. Oh and I work at the F-35 Program office, that's why there's a few of those. It's only a model though.
