is the best guitarist ever.

ALL MY HEROES ARE RUSSIAN...GO CAPS!

Well you see, Norm, it’s like this…A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members. In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Now, as we know, excessive intake of alcohol kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. And that, Norm, is why you always feel smarter after a few beers.-Cliff Claven

Young is a decent player, but nothing that special. EVH is technically amazing but bores the shit outta me just like Vai. I'll vote SRV over any of em

Confusing the issue, since before you were ugly.

Top three--Hendrix, Clapton and Page (not necessarily in that order). Everyone else fights for 4th...

Honestly there are a ton of fantastic guitar players in the rock world. But the best none one has ever heard of. The classical guitar players are the best.

But are we just tossing in rock guitar players?

Because Angus and EVH are pretty good but Tom Morello could out play them in his sleep.

Drummers I give Neal Peart, Dave Grohl and Joey Jordison.

I would say Prince has a legitimate run at the 4th spot.

In my opinion its not about who can rip the best solos but who has created the best sound and style… Tony Iommi and Brian May

That has a ton to do with it. Lot's a folks can rip a solo in fact allot of time they are easier then the changes in rhythm.

Then you have to include The Edge.

But Page could do it all. As a studio musician, he was rhythm and/or lead on what seemed like every song from the 60's.

He is up there for sure. Prince has talent in every part of music. I not sure there is anything you could ask him to do that he would not kick ass in.

So that leaves over all musician from Drums, Guitar, Bass, Vocals and writing.

I would say Dave Grohl, James Hetfield, Prince who can add onto this?

Since we're on the subject, I highly recommend the Jimmy Page, The Edge and Jack White documentary called "It Might Get Loud."

And add Les Paul (the guitarist, not the guitar) to the list.

You all are too young to understand, and are too clueless to boot. The best guitar players in no particular random order are...

Pete Townshend
Alvin Lee
Neil Young
Angus Young
Jim Heath
Lemmy
Gerry Cantrell
John Lee Hooker
Paul Butterfield
