Any Droid Pro owners? - February 10, 2011, 10:21 AM

So I have an upgrade for Verizon, and have been using a crappy Voyager for years. Was looking at the various Droids..... leaning towards the Droid Pro. Like that it has "real" keyboard and similar to a blackberry. I've read the various reviews of them (good but with crappy battery), would like some input from anyone on here that has/uses one. It's for personal use Anyone?

It sucks, if you're heart set on a keyboard get the d2global.

I personally would skip the keyboard as you will notice the touch screen technology has advanced leaps and bounds since the voyager.

Most importantly I would hold off until may that way you have various 4g options to choose from. The thunderbolt, bionic, new galaxy s line, and lg should all be out by then or at least have a near future launch date available.

I cant say anything about the Pro, but after this Droid X, I will NEVER buy a Motorola phone again.

Freezing, battery life issues, bloatware, and the eFuse chip... meaning if you try to modify the shit to remove the bloatware, and fuck it up, you stand a good chance of ruining your phone.

The Thunderbolt looks amazing.

Motorola is extremely critical when it comes to an open boot loader. If you're in to that kind of thing I would jump on with samsung. They use the a8 which is a pretty nice processor, and the over saturated samoled. Once you root it with a custom rom, the thing is an absolute beast.

Thanks all!!

Yeah, I will be rooting anything I get. Thanks for the warning Fitz.... don't wanna brick anything! I'll check those new phones out and wait I guess if theres much better stuff coming out. Droid X is a little too large and media oriented for me.

Do not like or want anything Ipod/Apple, though, Droid only.

I know it's not about a droid pro....but...

I have a Droid X.....it has it's ups and downs...but overall I'm cool with it. I'm not a person who wants to hack, breakout, jailbreak, root, etc a phone. I just use it with what it has.

I keep apps on my phone at most for a week or so then delete (specifically games)....I bought the REAL HDMI so I can use the phone's browser on my TV...pretty good stuff.

the touchscreen coming from a blackberry was breeze. I've had no major software issues with the phone in terms of functionability.

At this point if I was in the market for a NEW phone I would wait until the 4G shit came out. But currently as I know it, the droid X is the top of the line on Verizon....

If you don't like the screen size of the droid x then don't bother waiting. All of the new devices for the somewhat near future are variants of a 4.3. Htc incredible and samsung fascinates are the rooter dream. I personally would go with the fascinate. 4" screen, extremely lightweight, nice processor, beautiful screen, TONS of rooms and themes, and the best battery life. I have had the droid x, incredible, pro and fascinate. (I am employed by vzw)

Htc incredible is proly the best out of the box phone.

^except Incredible does not have SWYPE....

probably one of the BEST things to have on a touchscreen phone IMO.

Out of the box, but it isn't hard at all to put on it.

I personally am not a big fan of swype. I love the sense auto correct. Swype is another extremely desired software though. Different strokes for different folks.

If you are not pressed to get a phone soon just wait for the 4g phones to come out. I am looking at the Moto Atrix. I know you said you do not like Moto phones, but the Atrix should be awesome.

Well somebody said it.

Atrix and bionic are almost one in the same. Tegra is a smig smaller, with more internal memory. The bionic has an 8mp camera vs 5 (history tells us it doesn't really matter because motorola uses shit quality lenses anyways.) and the bionic has the tegra processor.

Samsung has also releaesnew camera technology for their upcoming phones. 12mp cameras that shoot 1080. Ballin
