Any expert with changing Outlook Calendar settings? - June 17, 2008, 02:03 PM

I need some help disabling the pop-up details for the appointments. Say, I can access another user's shared calendar. If I was to put my mouse over a particular appointment or event on that user's calendar, I would see the details of that item. How would I disable this pop-up details thing and prevent myself from seeing the details of the events from someone else's calendar?

I went into the Calendar Options section, Planner Options, unchecked "Show popup calendar details" and saved the settings. Yet, I was still able to view the details of the appointments/events on another shared calendar.

Help!?!?

Technically, on all shared calendars. We have all users calendars set up as shared.

Outlook 2003. We use Exchange server at work.
Can you check your Outlook Calendar settings and see if anything is "turned off"?

if you go to Calendar options, then Planner Options...under meeting planner what does it say?

Mine has:
Show Popup calendar details (check)
Show calendar details in the grid (unchecked)

I've tried enabling and disabling all those options under Planner Options. Didn't seem to work.

I checked on my account at Experts Exchange and found that one suggestion is the same as this one. At the end of the expert comment the thread creator reports this didn't fix the problem.

In Outlook:
Select Tools . . . Options
Click the Calendar Option Button
Click the Planner Options button
Uncheck 'Show Popup Calendar details' in both the Meeting Planner and Group Schedule Areas.
Click OK three times to get back.

This may be that the user who owns the calendar must change the setting.. Most likely the permissions to the calendar as not allowing the change. I'll see what else I can find.

I figured the mouse issue error out. The mouse behaves differently when placed over the time area then the subject. When placed over a time it give you an option to change the recurrance other wise it just pops up the info. I still don't seem to be able to get the setting to stop producing the pop ups.
