Anyone elses insurance go up 60%? - August 22, 2010, 03:37 PM

So I just got my new bill from Geico and they raised my rates by 60%. I have been riding motorcycles for 21 years with no tickets or accidents. My last speeding ticket in a car was 12 years ago. What gives?
I called Geico and all they could tell me is that in June Va raised comprehinsive and passenger liability insurance. I can uderstand maybe a 10% increase, but 60%? Fuck Geico.
My wife car only went up 120 bucks a year, not 500 bucks like my bike.

Opinions on insurers? Im obviously looking for new insurance.

^^^State Farm will only insure a bike if you have a car with them (unless they changed that policy).

Geico, went up 60% on you? Holy shit. I was have raised hell.
Heard good things about USAA.

USAA doesn't insure bikes, they guided me to progressive. Progressive has a partnership with USAA so they honor USAA type insurance polices/rates.

Nah SF will insure anything on a single policy. I have my Bike with them. $408/year 2006 GSX-R600.

Got quoted today by GEICO for $600.

That policy must have changed then because I know when I got down here in the early 2000's, I was looking for M/C insurance for my R6 and they would only offer me a policy if I had a car insured with them as well.

Erie is who does my car and their rates can't be beat by anyone so I wasn't willing to go with SF.

Yes USAA will insure your motorcycle...They do use Progressive as their underwriter, but the policy is listed under USAA...I have been with USAA for almost 10 years with motorcycles...Currently I pay $33 dollars a month for full coverage (including theft) with $0 deductible...

I had GEICO for the bike. They were actually cheaper than anyone else, even USAA/ Progressive. I couldn't believe it. Guess it is time to go shopping soon.
Ins. is such a scam anyway.

damn, I'm being raped! paying about 805 a year with statefarm just includes basic liability and theft, weather, and vandalism coverage with 100 dollar deductible.

I'm 19 with only one ticket on my record, HOV violation back when I was 16..
