Cool Anyone have a Chevrolet Dealership connection? - June 13, 2013, 08:16 PM

So i'm looking at ordering a 2014 Corvette.

I've been to a couple dealerships and talked to them about it - got the packages and did a preliminary build of one. Z51 L3 package with a few extras like Calipers / sports exhaust / blah blah.

anywayyyyys - naturally they are asking a markup over MSRP. Which kind of sits poorly with me. But not just ANY markup, some are asking rather high amounts depending on which "wave" you're getting.

I don't mind paying MSRP, or even a very small markup, but at this point i'm thinking of just waiting til some of the hype dies off. Most markups i've seen are between 7 and 15 (?!?!!) thousand over.

Not sure if anyone has a friend or connection to any of the chevy dealers that could maybe point me in the right direction.

I'd say wait till the hype dies off, also 1st year car with a new engine can be risky. But if you're buying a 2014 vette I guess you can afford the risk lol.

Not many dealerships will be willing to give up the MSRP markup from a hyped new car... if you don't pay it, someone else will.

Another vote to waiting for the hype to die down

you and I must have been working at ford around the same time. I caught the tail end of the GT500 craze. I think I was selling them around 2008 and almost sold one for 10k over but after that it seemed like we couldn't do it anymore.

I work at Pohanka Auto Group and we do have a Chevy store. Email me at DLeeds@Pohanka.com later today and let me know what you want. I can't guarantee anything but I'll see what I can do.

Do you have USAA? I purchased my new GMC truck through USAA and saved about 8K. Which basically just paid for all my options

I follow a popular mustang forum and the outrage towards markup when a new model comes out (GT500 and the Boss more recently) is always strong. The only solution that seems to occasionally work is to go to a dealership in the middle of no where. You wont find a car in the DMV area because there will always be people willing to pay stupid prices, but you might get lucky with a dealer in pudunk, Virginia.

I did the same with my Ram 1500. Printed off the USAA price and took it to the dealer - $8k off sticker. Dude at one dealer told me they hate the USAA prices since they don't make money of the vehicles sold and they only do it as a "favor" to the military people. He even said some dealers won't even honor it for the loss they take on them. Also, if you complain to USAA about them, apparently big wigs at the dealer get involved. Something I plan on doing with Lustine but that is a different thread.

To the original OP, let us know how it goes with the Vette. A buddy of mine is turning 50 soon and he wants one for his birthday. I don't know if he will get a new one or not. I'm interested to see how much he will have to pay for his mid-life toy....
