Pohick Bay by kayak for bass, snakeheads and whatever else bites.
I'd be launching really early and plan to be home in time for the GP races.

By brother went fly fishing with my dad (unfortunately I was working). The only thing he caught...

was himself...

They had to use a scalpel to cut it out.

Fuck that. Not with a barb that size on the end of it. It was so deep that they couldnt push it through to the other side. If they could have, they could have cut the barb and just backed it out cleanly.

The bigger problem is that my brother is prone to staph infection. He got a HORRIBLE staph infection in college and came VERY close to losing his hand. He had four surgeries in seven days. They couldnt get the bacteria under control and told us that amputation was the next option. Thankfully, they were able to clear it. If you look closely at his hand, you can see the scar from his surgeries.

Anyways, the doctors said that the concern was that the hook had not only recently been in a fish's mouth (I was kidding, he DID catch something other than himself), but even worse in the Potomac. That, combined with his risk for staph makes it a little worrisome.
