Anyone know name of seafood type market in DC - May 13, 2009, 05:59 AM

Saw this place on Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations when he did a show on DC area. it's supposed to be close to the Jefferson memorial if I remember correctly. Supposed to have really good crab legs and alot for a good price too. Today is my first night off in 16 days, first day off where it is'nt raining and it supposed to be nice so i am thinking about riding the bike up in to the district to hit this place up. Any help with name and location would be greatly appriciated.

Dont know the name, but it's right off of Maine Ave. along the waterfront. I drive past it every single day on the way to work. It's just down the street (towards 395) from Phillips Seafood Restaurant.

its called the main avenue fish market, you have to get off 395 as if you were going to potomac park and just go around instead of going all the way into the park. its just a bunch of floating barges place is packed and they have really good deals

Honestly Ive not been impressed by quality or price. Even when you haggle you can usually get the stuff for really close to the same price at places like costco, etc. and you dont have to drive hella far to get the shat.

It's an alright spot. I go there sometimes. I don't know what deals people are talking about. Prices and quality are average.

For seafood, I would rather go to the Korean supermarket at Gallows Rd & Lee Hwy and it's not even close. Much better variety, definately cheaper, and often fresher (live).

it's one of those places where you gotta be a regular. The more you go, the better deals you get.

I picked up some money tuna steaks and monster crab legs there a few weeks ago. Place is awesome. Also check out Cantina Marina nearby for a cocktail!
