No surprise at all. Apple has a product that consumers want AND are willing to pay the price for it. Cant blame Apple for that at all. A product is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. No matter what it is - car, phone, motorcycle, etc.

The one thing that always astonished me about Apple. While the rest of the industry commoditizes and continually brings prices down - Apple goes in the opposite direction and charges ever increasing premiums.

“Any man who tries to be good all the time is bound to come to ruin among the great number who are not good. Hence a Prince who wants to keep his authority must learn how not to be good, and use that knowledge, or refrain from using it, as necessity requires”.

Although I do agree, Apple does improve 'above and beyond' with every model they offer to the public.

If the price is higher on an Apple product then there is usually something to warrant that.

They've always been a premium brand for everything they do.

In every market there is room for the premium option. And sometimes, people start seeing the premium option as an affordable luxury - hence all the ghetto kids also sporting iphones and ipods.

Iphone - the new $100 sneaker.
