There is no grandfather clause regarding NFA items. If you "loose it" you might as well drill the auto sear hole in the receiver, as being caught with either would get you 10 years in prision and $250K in fines.

"they" don't want you to have automatic weapons. Those are only for criminals and the military. Or for perfectly backgrounded, law abiding citizens who don't mind filling out a ton of paperwork and giving up their right to deny search of a residence believed to shelter an NFA or Class III weapon at any time the ATF deems appropriate.

one can only hope. Yet you stated earlier that the ATF will show up at our front doors demanding the bump stocks if/when they do get banned. Somehow I think if people wrote their names down on paper and signed off on owning them(like in an NFA/Class III submission), it would happen much easier.
