Arai Profile, visor issue - November 2, 2009, 08:54 AM

I picked up an Arai Profile helmet (medium) and soon after I bought a tinted visor:

Arai Helmet Faceshield SAQ Shield Visor Dark Smoke

To fit:
RX-7 Corsair
Profile
Quantum 2
Vector
Astral
Astral-X
Quantum / e
Quantum / f
Quantum / s

Well, when I installed the visor I noticed it doesn't sit flush against the helmet, there is a gap.
So what am I missing here? Did they send me the wrong one or did I order the wrong one?

are you sure you locked it in correctly? I really want an arai profile, and I went to a shop to try it on and fiddle with changing the visor. It is true that it's harder and more annoying to change than others. I noticed once that I thought I locked it in, but it wasn't all the way, it had a little gap. is it possible that it's just misaligned?

edit: forgot to add, a sales dude came over and talked to me for a while and he was able to swap the visor pretty fast. he said you just gotta do it a bunch of times and you'll get it no problem. I'll probly just sit on my couch and swap like 30 times 'till i can get it quick

I really appreciate the offers but I'm trying to do the public a favor by keeping my ugly mug behind a tinted visor; I already have a clear.

The tinted visor is obviously longer when I compare them over/next to eachother. I dunno.

They are a pain in the ass to change. Sounds like it's not properly clicked in. Both Sara and I have Arai's and I always fight with 'em.

I can offer up to meet you somewhere to check it out. I live in South Riding and work in Tysons. Out of work at 4 and can swing thru Sterling if you'd like.

You're all doing it wrong. They are easy to pop in and out. Watch a vid or two on youtube. Also tremendously easier if you hit the ends with a thin film of that lube they include with the helmet from time to time.

That would be great but I am fairly certain I am installing it correctly.
I may actually be in the tysons area later on today.

I'll touch bases with you soon, I'd prefer not to waste any of your time.

Same video I watched.

I 'ripped' the clear one out, locked the new one in (it was in there, not just the tip ), and slammed it shut. The visor actuated properly and even the little release tabs popped out like they are suppose to when it is lifted all the way but there is an obvious gap and it blatantly does not seal.

I'll snap it in and take a picture.

Gem's not going to get jealous, is he?

Not wasting time, heading thru Sterling on the way home would just be taking the "scenic route" compared to the usual toll road trip.

And if you're in Tysons, I'm at Route 7 & Westwood Center, across from the old Cadillac dealership.

He better not be, I find 'dirty wrappers' in him all the time.

I'll be heading towards International/Gallows so you're easily on my way.

Check out these pictures first, I am fairly certain it's installed correctly but just too big.
