Who has a 30+ minute commute to work? Where are you coming from/going to?

Dulles to Columbia, MD.

7 to toll road to 495 to I95.

50 miles, a minimum of 1 hr each way, and none of it would be fun on a bike.

Woodbridge to Tysons Corner. Takes about an hr to get there and about an hr and a half to get home. I leave at 7 and get there around 8am. On the way home I leave around 5 or 5:30 in the evening, depending on how busy I am.

Sterling to Gaithersburg...
I used to take route 7 east to Georgetown Pike (rte 193). Then to 495 north to 270. Catch the Shady Grove exit. Total trip in the morning took about 55 min but the afternoon took about 1 hour 10 minutes.

Sterling to Crystal City...
I just drive to the Vienna Metro, then take the Metro to Crystal City. Total trip take me about 1 hour 20 minutes.

I used to take the metro when I lived in Chantilly, but Vienna is was so crowded and parking was so miserable I eventually just started driving (to Courthouse). I can't imagine that it has gotten much better since that was years ago.

Anybody live in Ashburn and commute to Arlington/DC?

Believe it or not, my round trip is around 8 miles and I am actually toying with the idea of moving farther away...hence the question concerning people's commutes

I've got a 45 minute commute from Montclair to Dulles. I work 1600-2400 though, so I never really fight traffic.

However, back in Cali I used to commute about 90 miles each way, took anywhere from 1 hour 45 min to 2.5 hours. In Cali its leagal to split lanes, and I did that the whole ride. Most of the time I wasn't going any faster than 60-65 mph. That seems around the speed limit until you realize that traffic was only doing 50ish and with out rush-hout traffic the cages were usually doing 80+ on these freeways. Heres what it looked like:
