Banking Vent - May 18, 2009, 03:04 PM

So Im taking a bike loan out from Suntrust who I have had 3 loans with and a credit score of 750.

Go to bank and ask for what I need and they send it in to the underwriters. First underwriters call and say yes and tell me what to send.

Then they call back in 2 hours and say they only give secured loans to bikes 1000cc and up which the R1 is. Couple more hours go by and they tell me what I need to send in. Send it all in AGAIN

Dont hear anything for a day. I call back the next day and then they say they need something else. Ok, should have told me everything I need from the beginning. Dont hear back for 2 hours. Call and they say they have it and will take it to be reviewed. What I have to call in order for it to get started.

Im not suprised that banks and loans went poop. Why have an underwriter that has to put you on hold to talk to their advisor everytime. They have 10 worhtless people for every 1 person that knows what they are doing. I hate that I have to call in order for something to get done. Beyond frustrating.

Hmmm...I'm leaving Chevy Chase and was going to go to Suntrust. Not that I'd get a loan through them but if they don't handle business well, not sure I want to go to them either.

I've had a problem with nearly every bank that does business in NOVA. I'm sure for any bank, there's some that love them, and some that can tell you a horror story.

By far my best experience is with credit unions. I currently use Northwest Federal credit union. The only time they havn't shined, is when trying to get a home loan. They were of no help.

Otherwise they regularly surprise me with their service.

I dumped Sun-UN-trust(worthy) a bit ago. USAA does it for me. All online, they reimburse you for other banks ATM fees too. But who uses cash now anyway. Any time I finance a vehicle, I do it through the dealer if I can get an extra $$$ incentive. Then turn around to USAA and refi for $45 at a lower rate. Yes, I do check it out first and last time I got $1500 more off for going with Chrysler Financial but switched to USAA for a .98% rate reduction.

I've used BB&T and they have treated me well for the last 4 vehicle loans I have had. NWFC (you have to be a member) but there rates on a "new" bike are good.

If your buying a used bike, don't expect the interest rates to be that of a new bike unfortunately (found this out across the board with quite a few banks).
