Beaverdam Reservoir - June 23, 2014, 07:33 PM

Anybody else use or used to use it? Now that Loudoun Water owns and intends to shut it down for at least years to do some required upgrades to the dam and spillway. They cut off access in early May. But they really aren't that concerned will allow access again once they'e done with the fixes.

They have lots of excuses such as gang activity and drownings. There is no gang activity according to a cop I know who works in that area. Besides the guy that drowned a few years ago, in '97 a woman and two kids drowned. More people drown in the Potomac every year.

In the meantime no construction is even taking place right now. The RFP for design work didn't even go out until that long ago.

Only about a 100 more 'signatures' needed for the online petition to get send a message to the county Board of Supervisors to put some pressure on Loudoun Water.

Earlier the month at the board meeting several citizens gave there 2 minutes about the reservoir.

We used to fish over there all the time when I was younger. Haven't been in a long time.

We used to go there back in high school. We would all just hang out, lay out in the sun, drink a few beers. Some people would swim and jump off the bridge thing on the one side. I never did.

We used to jump off the party bridge all the time. Until people started throwing old appliances in there

Old school DCSB Dan created this site Beaverdam Creek Reservoir | Why has Loudoun Water closed public access to the reservoir?
