Best DMV around Ashburn to avoid lines? - September 5, 2014, 11:27 AM

I know somebody mentioned a "hidden" DMV in the area that is usually nearly empty. I'd like to get around to registering my 2014 KTM. Can somebody point me to it?

Thanks oh all knowing .Net!

When I was in the ashburn area. The Leesburg DMV was always empty, and I would go 5-10min before they closed. I went there 4 times total.

The only time I had a bad experience there was when they screwed up the title and it took them 3hrs to fix their mistake. Other than that, that DMV was the best DMV I had ever been too before moving to CO.

It might be bit farther for you in terms of Ashburn:

Fairfax / Westfields : Customer Service Center
14950 Northridge Drive, Chantilly, VA 20151-3809

But in my personal experience, is the quickest one. Go early in the morning(20-30mins) or early in the afternoon.

Thanks

Wait times are posted. Times are usually a bit longer than what is posted, but it will give you an idea when not to go. Looks like Front Royal is only 6 minutes right now.

Agreed. One time I wanted to go to the one in Fair Oaks Mall; site said 6 min wait. Showed up, there was at least 40 people in line and a full waiting room.

I don't know how close the Chantilly location is to you, but it's usually empty before lunch time. I've gone twice in the same day (once to get a temp tag so I could legally drive a car to get the emissions inspection, and then again to get it titled and registered) and both times I was in and out in less than 15 minutes. Middle of the week in middle of the month is always your best bet.

Any express DMV offers limited services and will typically have almost no wait times, like the one in Falls Church.
