Blackberry Users - FREE App Helps You Find/Track Lost or Stolen Phone - January 25, 2010, 11:08 AM

http://software.crackberry.com/produ...s-My-Phone-Pro

It's on BB App World - just search "Wheres My Phone" and go half way down and look for the Free Vers to test with.
There's no monthly/annual fees and the free version is more than enough to take care of 99% of us who don't have high security jobs/data.

Tested it on a few Berry's I have 8320/8100/8900 friends 9100 and they all work perfectly.

When you lose your phone you send an email to it; it in turn locks down the phone and sets off a LOUD ANNOYING alarm, along with an alert message on the screen and the number you can be reached at.

When you find your phone you can can either punch in the alarm code, or send a "Stop" command email to shut it down as well.

Quote:
- Remotely trigger a loud alarm, even if your BlackBerry is on vibrate or silent mode!
- Display a message on the screen, telling the finder how to contact you.
- Get your BlackBerry s location via GPS, emailed back to you on devices with GPS .
- Have your BlackBerry call you at another number, so you can hear where it is.
- Check the battery level remotely.
- Customize the alert screen Color, Font, Functions, Message, Alarm tone.
- Code word protect the Wheres My Phone options screen.
- Option to auto-delete WMP-related emails from device.
- NO ANNUAL/MONTHLY FEES EVER!
The alarm can be paused from the handset depending on the number of times you set it to.

With the paid version, there are increased options:

- GPS location, for GPS enabled phones.

- CALL ME which is a deadly little tool.
You can have your phone call you at any number you send an email to tell it to without it triggering the alarm so you can hear where it's at
(Or you can leave your phone in a room, walk out, trigger it by sending an email to tell you to call you at XYZ number, and hear what people are up to like a damn spy microphone! )

- QUIET / QUIETSTART which will display the message, lock the phone, but not trigger the alarm.

Blackberries have had them (Smart Guard and a few others) but none were free.

They either required a monthly subscription or were trialware - and were overly complex/feature laden.

Smart Guard for instance is corporate level stuff. Has GPS tracking, remotely backs up all data on the Berry to their server every day (if you set it to that), will only allow SIM cards you registered work on the phone, and you can send an email codes to lock or NUKE/WIPE the damn thing remotely.

^^^Damn, why do you have to jailbreak an Iphone to do anything with it? That's ridiculous.
