Blocktoberfest & Shamrockfest Dead as we know it - a sad day

Well I might be a little bit behind on this and it could be a repost but... it appears that Ballston will no longer be host to the infamous Blocktoberfest and the always great Shamrockfest. The Blocktoberfest is cancelled for 2006.

Arlington, in it's infinite wisdom has determined that these events bring too many people the the neighborhood and does not bring enough of an economic value to the area. Talk about a bummer.

So these metro-accessible booze fests will probably be moved to some other locale... probably where a lot of people will end up hopping behind the wheel to get there. Great idea. That is all.

blah I thought this was about the upcoming free fight on Spike. Ortiz vs. Shamrock III

Do they still do the Rally in the Alley? That use to rock!

HUD750 October 3, 2006 01:55 PM

The Rally in the Alley died about five years ago when they shut down the Mr. Dayz downtown... that used to be a pretty crazy time.

Now they have the bar crawls downtown put on by Lindy Promotions instead.

Was a great time, gotta friend who lives right there. Shame.

Oh no....Please tell me this isn't true...

After doing a bit of research, it seems that neither won't be held in Arlington anymore...But they do have some other venue that they will be holding both parties at some other venue next year! PHEW!

I never went to Blocktoberfest, but I've been to Shamrock Fest the last 3 years in a row...So many good times. That's where I met the man, the myth, the legend that is gixrben. That's where Rob spilled beer on his shirt...answering the phone............sober. Once we get closer, I'll definitely put something up about Shamrock Fest...Way too much drunken debauchery to not go.
