Blue Mountain Snow Bikercross Race - January 5, 2010, 10:37 AM

I know there are a few people on this board that race/ride mountain bikes. This race is being held on Sat. and for $20 it includes a lift ticket to ski/board after the race as well. I will be there racing hungover from Dave and Busters the night before. Should be a ton of fun and from what I am told there are always a shitload of crashes and the last couple of years a couple of airlifts as well. Should be a super fun time, going to suck racing on two blown out knees right now though. Check out the video it shows the course as well.

TardedJake im directing this towards you...come out and race!

depending on the conditions you probably wont need them...it is going to be so cold up there the snow should be really hard thus using an aggressive mud tire should work well. All that said I will be making a set of spikes up just in case. Let me know if you are definately going and maybe we can carpool together. Should be a lot of fun either way.

Hmmm, I may be able to hit up my buddy to borrow one of his DH bikes. This looks like a blast, although I haven't jumped a bike in a number of years! We shall see....

If ANYONE wants to come you are all welcome to use my race bike if you want....provided im not sitting in the start gate already. you dont have to have a DH bike or even a dual suspension bike...bring your xc hardtail if you want...slam the seatpost and pedal! There will be some great racing, if you have never been to a local DH race all of us racers...(well most of us) are usually drinking up until the time we get called to the start house......one of those "here hold my beer and watch this run!" kind of things.

Okay I think I'm like 90% in at this point. I have a friend who agreed to swap cars with me on saturday if i want to go, so I have a SUV with hitch rack for the bikes, and extra room inside if there's snowboard gear coming as well.

Jon, you think you're gonna go man?

Update again: I'm in! Got a dual slalom type bike and gonna go put some DH mud tires on it this week.

Bike - check
Body Armour - check
Helmet - check
Transportation - check

Are you guys making a big day trip out of this? Who's interested in carpooling? Sounds like getting there around 9:00am will be good so there's time to register then get your gear in check before the practice runs. I havent ridden anything like this in years so I'm sure I'll get eliminated early, so I'm bringing my board as well.

Im in for carpooling....I will throw down on some gas....really hoping I podium but we will see what happens. I may have a couple buddies going also so at the very least we can all caravan up there. Should be an epic time...going to be the first time on my slalom bike and on a mountain since I fucked up my knee in June......All or nothing this weekend! Going to be a podium or a big ass crash for me!

Really glad we got some .net people going!

Sweet! Like I said, I've got a pathfinder with hitch rack for the bikes, and can fit some additional snow gear inside. I'm down for carpooling, esp since it sounds like this will be a one day shot. I'll shoot you a PM with my info so we can figure stuff out.

Once I get eliminated I'll grab my camera and try to get some sweet shots of your potential crashes!

I am bringing two sets of tires....one set of Maxxis Ardents (really really good in loose conditions so they should be good for loose over hardpack snow) and also a set of Kenda Excavators that I am going to cut and sipe tonight for extra traction. So if anyone needs a set of tires they can run whatever I am not.
