BMW help please - April 5, 2013, 10:55 AM

I know a few people on here used to or are BMW fans so I had a question for them. I just changed out the battery on my 335i and I need to have the battery registered in the ECU. Does anybody know a shop that will do it for a decent price or anyone have the Bavarian Technic Tool to do it? I will meet wherever. Any help would be appreciated. I just don't think the dealerships will help me out since I didn't put in a BMW branded battery.

I seem to remember that the charging system is adaptive to your driving style or something so it can calculate how to best maintain the battery. (short trips all the time- charge it really fast, long trips moreso- charge slowly) Unfortunately, that does mean you're supposed to reset something so the ecu knows it's a new battery and can adjust its strategy. Case of over engineering for sure and one of many reasons I find newer cars annoying.

lol, I thought you were talking about the key/fob. There should be some info out there on the BMW forums.

I found all the info I need, but I don't have the tool to do it and can't get it anytime soon. Was just hoping somebody else had one or knew a good shop that could do it real quick for a decent price. I think I found one though.
