Mercedes would have fared even better than the BMW, and Volvo better than both. Mom was involved in an accident on 395 about 10 yrs ago where the steel bumper fell off the back of a trash truck. She slammed into it head on, went into a spin, ANOTHER trash truck hit her and put the car in a spin the other way until eventually the car smashed sideways into the jersey-wall median. A trooper was almost immdiately on the scene and thought for sure he would be covering up a body. To his surprise, she was sitting there, behind the wheel w/airbags deployed - shaken but not even scratched. There was not one piece of unscathed sheet metal on the car but the driving compartment "cage" was fully in tact. Sorry, no pics. Tough car.

my bet is the lambo ran a intersection and nailed the driver side quarter panel. not much to lambos, and you have to remember the engine is in the rear so there ain't much stopping an intrusion into the vehicle. it's not made to be crashed

Very true. A couple of pics won't tell the whole story....and will often mislead. I think its very safe to say that the Lambo hit something other than just that Beemer.

Although almost every picture I've seen of a wrecked Lambo....always obliterated. Don't know if its because people are always going 200mph or what.

Negative, simply due to the materials used. Everything is about weight saving in them, so you find a lot of Aluminum and Carbon Fibre and very little safety features BMWs have re-enforced beams in their doors and crumple points in the unibody etc... it's a simple enough reason really. An obliterated Lambo never suprises me.
