Bought a new camera! - July 2, 2009, 11:54 PM

So I went out a few hours ago and picked up my first digital SLR. After some intial research and asking questions of the more experienced photographers on here, I decided what I was looking for in a setup and went with the Canon Digital EOS XSi. So far I LOVE the camera. The "basic" modes are easy enough (pretty much point and shoot), so I am working on my proficiencies with the manual settings. I still have a LOT to learn, but here are a few shots I snapped tonight. Again, still getting a feel for everything (there are so many functions and variables!)...

Yeah man, it is time consuming! I have not put this thing down since I got it! Its kinda overwhelming too. Its like the more I read, the more confused I get. There is so much to know! Fun as hell though. I have been taking pics of shit just to take a picture. Its cool to try different lenses and mess with the exposure, the shutter speed, the aperture, flash settings...every little thing (or combination of things) can completely change a picture. Like I said, still have a long way to go.

i was going to get that same camera but i decided it had too many buttons and settings for my limited brain power so i got a new Canon 14.7 mega pixel point and shoot which is way more than i need and i don't really like the thing. Now i'm kicking myself for not getting a DSLR.

Just picked up an XSi today (still waiting for the battery to be fully charged).

How are you liking yours now that you've had it for 6 months?
