That's generally good enough for 90% of content.
50GB wouldn't be enough to store very many downloaded movies. Most Blu-Rays for instance are well over 10GB for a single film.

trying to figure out a solution for an upcoming trip, and uploading gopro videos that are nearly 4gb each. maybe i can zip up the 4gb files and split the zip into 250mb chunks. then download when i get back home.

So long as your willing to pay a small fee Skydrive is one of the best services if you need the extra space.

There's a free 14-Day trial of their next tier service level which allows 2GB uploads and 1TB of storage.

Sign-up for the free account, then activate the trial upgrade the night before you leave.
https://www.box.com/pricing/

Allow the trial to expire, but make sure you do not exceed 50GB of storage. I have a feeling they may "lock down" anything over 50GB unless you pay the $15/mo fee in order to regain access and download it.

That's a rather confusing pricing table. It seems more designed for corporate than consumer use.

.net actually runs on Amazon EC2.

Dropbox used to be very good, but they seem to have slipped in usability and flexibility.
