Breathalyzer - for Your Phone - DrinkMate - August 26, 2014, 09:04 PM

Check out a cool idea one of my buddies is trying to launch. Basically its a small tube smaller than a chapstick/usb drive. Plug in to your phone, blow for 4 seconds or so and it will tell you your BAC!

Pretty cool IMO. Handy for all you guys going out to bike nights getting drunk! lol

Pretty amazing technology when you think about it. Pretty sad that we even have a market for it. But ignoring the problem won't solve it, so if this helps, then I'm for it. Best of luck with this. I hope it gets off the ground and makes a difference.

Ill be honest, there has been more than one occasion where I thought I was "fine" to drive. We got help up by cops, I asked for a breathalyzer just for my personal reference and blew well past the limit.

Rather do it myself than have cops be there and risk getting a drunk in public/harrassment etc.

I'm not sure how this works but I would be willing to pay for this app for sure.

Seems dumb. If you have to resort to a personal breathalyzer to judge if you've had too much to drink, I'd wager that you've had to much too drink.

I think it would be nice to know if you are hovering around legal though... I mean the police don't give a shit if you are .01 over the limit, but it would be nice to know prior to if you were.

That shit probably fluctuates so much you could be fine before you leave and over by the time you get home. Seems like a risk

Fun fact - You don't have to be over the limit to be charged/convicted of DUI.

Competition! Drives cost down... you all know this. If my friend was here he would pick apart why his is better. But ill let you guys try.

IMO people are getting DUIs daily, if there is an avenue (whether you like it or not) to help possibly keep them safe, esp with the app (social pressure) why not do it?!

Agree, plus even the Police Field tests are not admissible in court because they aren't as well calibrated. Only the blood test I believe (or at least from what I was reading just a day or so ago) I'm sure it varies State to State though. So this will just give you an IDEA if your close to the legal limit, again if you think you are play it safe and stay the hell out of the drivers seat!
