Angry A Buddy Just Got Robbed on Craigslist - May 3, 2010, 01:49 PM

Sucks for him, apparently he went to sell his subs and instead found himself staring down the barrel of a gun. Just a heads up for all you out there who shop craigslist, apparently this has been happening a lot lately...

Whenever I do a craigslist transaction over a hundred I'm wearing "protection"

  1. ALWAYS meet in public and if possible try to meet in VA so you can open carry if you don't have a CCW Permit.
  2. Get to the meet early and at least run through a scenario of possible escape routes should something go down.
  3. Don't keep the cash on you (or keep the majority of cash hidden somewhere) that way if you get held up you can say you only came with a deposit. Also, I usually clean my wallet before meeting a stranger so he doesn't get my ID's and other valuable personal information
What other precautions do you take when completing a transaction with a stranger?

Details? Did he go to someones house or something? Dark alley? Carry protection regardless of where your at. Jails preferable to being dead

Seems these are frequent occurrence with CL.

I have bought and sold a lot of stuff on CL, and I always bring a sidearm and another person. Felt like over kill when I bought my big screen and was in this old couples house making small talk and petting their lil fluff dog with a loaded .45 in my pants, but hey... better safe then sorry.

Well it kinda sucks because this was the guy I sold my CBR 1k to, really cool upstanding guy- he actually was selling his Subs so he could afford the bike. Not really sure where it all went down, but he told me that from now on he would only do CL transactions 'in public' whatever that means.

I'm definitely with you Boost- better be judged by 12 then carried by 6...

must have been some expensive ass subs!

Just don't see the sale of some subwoofers making a bike "affordable"....you sure he didn't just throw you some shit b/c he didn't want to buy the bike anymore?

naw he gave me most of the cash minus a few hundred bucks so I told him he could start the paperwork at the MVA on the bike. If he decided to screw me over, the extra few hundred would just have been my profit so in the very worst case I would have broken even. I'm not all that concerned about it

When i bought my motorycycle lift from a woman (super hardcore lesbian) she had a gun on one hip and extra ammo on the other. I didn't try to talk her down in price
