Built a new Stable (Garage) - June 26, 2008, 09:23 AM

More info & pics here: http://www.clarke-family.net/michael

Cliffnotes:
Amish 12x24' (super - taller sidewalls) mini barn style, 2 windows, hung door, garage door opener. Floor is 1 5/8" tongue/groove on 12' OC 2x4"s on top of 5 pressure treated 4x4s.

I ran a 100amp service, 22 outlets, 2 240v outlets, drywall, blah blah blah. Way too much work but it turned out nice!

Great little work area.

The floor is a big surprise! I'm doing a small garage renovation myself (rubber floor covering, paint, cabinets, hooks, etc.) in hopes of having a nice workspace, but those hardwoods are gorgeous! Way to go!

I picked up a porable AC unit with an intake and exhaust for cooling the coils which will be nice because it won't be blowing out my cool air. I tried to throw a window unit in there but the windows only open 12" so none that would cool the space would fit -- thought about removing the window and framing it in for the AC unit but that's just too much work and I'm tired of working on the thing.

I went with hardwood floors so I wouldn't have to pour a pad -- concrete is WAY too expensive these days. I'd say I have roughly $6,500 into it as it sits... concrete would have been an additional 3-5K.

woulverine coatings is in my opinion one of the best epoxy manufacturers and they have a great product that bonds (physically & chemically) to the wood and I can lay epoxy right over it for a nice floor. Again, that's a lot of work so maybe next spring. I'll have to sand the entire floor then lay about 10 gallons of materials across a week or so.
