Buying a vehicle over the weeken when DMV is closed, how? - November 30, 2012, 06:30 PM

So I MIGHT (F/U jinx monster!) sell my car tomorrow to a gentleman who has an "immediate" need for a car. My bank will be open so I can go with him and get them to release the title, but how can he drive it away?

I mean insurance is not a problem, but he'll need some sort of licence plate, where can we get that on a saturday? DMV closes at 12 and we won't make it, are there agencies that provide provisional plates or something like that?

He has the plates for his other car that broke down, could he use those? Can he use "no plates" over the weekend?

Thank you

If he went to the DMV first he could pick up a travel permit.

Do not let him drive with your tags unless you don't mind being legally responsible if he wrecks. He can drive with his tags and he'll be fine - unless he gets stopped (meaning - no it's NOT legal)

There's bold riders and old riders, but damn few bold old riders.

He can pay $5 online for what is called a trip permit. He just has to print it off the website and put it in the back window it's good for one trip from one specified address to the next. Very easy process I'll look for the link and post it.

what he does is his prerogative. once you sell the vehicle its not your vehicle. people try to pull this shit all the time when I buy trucks and cars. thanks, Im driving off with or without a tag. its none of your concern.
