Can I wave? - April 1, 2012, 02:33 PM

Picked up a great condition Honda Reflex 250 from CL for $1000.Couldn't pass it up...75 MPG

Have to say I'm dreading the day I'm at a stop light and people on real motorcycles pull up next to me.I haven't ridden it yet, gonna register it tomorrow but I have to say I'm pretty excited to go cruising on it away from the city.I'll probably sell it in a couple months when gas goes up and I can make a profit on it and buy another sportbike.

So does a 250 have enough street cred to wave at non scooter riders?

I'm gonna try to get "FAGGIO" plates, though I'm pretty sure the DMV will shoot it down.

Well you see, Norm, it’s like this…A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members. In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Now, as we know, excessive intake of alcohol kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. And that, Norm, is why you always feel smarter after a few beers.-Cliff Claven

You should get 1000RR stickers and slap them on the body and get a Yoshi or Akra plate to put on the exhaust.

I've got my TU250. I wave and people wave back.

When someone doesn't wave back I don't assume they wouldn't. Too often there's something they see from their side that you don't and their attention is on the traffic, etc.

Although it could be that they only ride on a few 'nice' weekends all year and they aren't comfortable taking one hand off.

Funny you should say that.I've been wondering about how I would be one of the few people wearing gear on a scooter.I've been down twice and I don't think there's much of a difference wrecking at 60 MPH on a scooter or a sportbike.

You sir have anti-social tendancies.

Hell, I used to toss a wave at local cops till one pulled me over after I did and wrote me up for speeding. He had anti-social tendancies as well... LOL

I wave at scooters and cyclists. Not one of them have waved back yet. The best I've gotten is a "WTF?" look. I'm surprised something so universal on motorcycles has not migrated to other 2-wheeled formats.

By the way, that moped racing is one of the best things I've seen on this site. Who does this, where, and how do you get into it? I'm guessing you have to have some skills to do that. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I'd be more scared on a Vespa than my R6, any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Dinnerplate wheels FTW

I wave to bicyclists, and sometimes scooters. Riding with a bike through city traffic can be good fun sometimes.
