Car buying advice - Specifically 2011 Ford Edge - November 5, 2010, 09:55 AM

Girlfriend is buying a car. She wants the 2011 Ford Edge, a crossover semi-luxury vehicle. I have two specific questions:

One - Are these good deals or can I get cheaper?

Two - Is it possible to add a factory tow package onto the vehicle or will it need the trans-oil cooler?
I was told they may need to cut the bumper, or that the tow package may have some silly dip to come out under the bumper and that it's not really the factory tow package. Any educated opinions on this?

The details

The two vehicles:
CAR ONE: FWD Platinum White (+$500) with the 201A package (MYFORD Touch, Sync, Backup camera, Panoramic sun/moon roofs, NO NAV!), cloth interior, and standard 18" wheels - they are adding on a factory tow package (+$375)

$31, 204OTD
(MSRP - $34,085 + TTT)

CAR TWO: FWD Standard White with the 202A package (MYFORD Touch, Sync, Backup camera, leather interior (+$???), heated seats, chromed 18" wheels (+$799), Panoramic sun/moon roofs - NO TOW PACKAGE ADDED!

$31,800 or $33,425 OTD
(MSRP Unknow but probably $36,XXX+TTT)

SV650s for SALE!!!
- 2007 SV650 Racebike-Superbike KWS/Thermosman suspension/Swenz bodywork/All GSXR Parts
- 2009 SV650 Streetbike Race blue with white stripe/No wrecks/fully faired with M4 full system

Shoot me a PM or talk to Nate (Nudist) if you're interested in purchase.

B, you or her should call me. Used to sell fords. Basically, on a car like that in this economy, you should be able to dip into some of the holdback.

Btw, get a ford flex instead. Tow rating of 4500, and you can get it with the same AWD/twin turbo ecoboost v6 powertrain that is in the SHO!

I'm probably gonna sell the Yoda for a 250Des in the next year. This is her car... she won't go for a Flex.

So is the Edge and I'm wearing a top hat. Your argument is invalid.

For $375 I would seriously doubt they are adding a transmission cooler. That is a lot of plumbing labor, +the cooler, +the fluid (you have to drain it to pipe it in). Then add to that the hitch and wiring. My guess is that it is just the hitch and lighting. I had nearly the same quote from Jeep and it was just the hitch and wiring harness.
