Car Towing - March 24, 2011, 10:17 AM

I may need to have a car towed from Fairfax to Silver Spring, or maybe even a little further north in MD (~30-45 miles). What's the best, most economical way to have this done? I know I can sign up for AAA; I'm looking for any other options/opinions. Thanks.

Car insurance offers towing coverage. You can check into the mileage limits and sign up for it. Also, some phone service providers provide roadside assistance for a really cheap price per month. You could just sign up, then use it.

Yeah, I have the roadside assistance on my car insurance, but it's only for like 5 miles or something like that. I'll look into the phone service thing. I've heard about that in the past, didn't know if they still provided that.

Just checked with Verizon, for $5/month you get 10 miles, and the service starts after two days of activation. Not bad, but I need triple those miles.
