Carrfax: Can You Get The Prev Owners Name? - April 13, 2013, 11:47 AM

Looking at a used truck. The dealer carfax shows one owner looks like somewhere in MoCo. If I, as buyer, were to spend the $35 to order a carfax, what would it show versus the one all the dealers seem to have on hand?

For the $35 dollar one - would it show the orig owners name? Thinking if I could contact them before I buy might give me some insight into why they got rid of it.

And does the $35 show anymore info than the dealer one?

I know carfax doesn't show everything only what WAS reported and there could be many things not on it.... blah blah blah.

You will get the identical carfax report as the dealer has.
You will not get the owners info.
Privacy laws prevent the dealer, or any corporation, from giving you that information.
