cat sitter needed... - May 23, 2012, 03:15 PM

Kind of an emergency...
Need someone willing to watch a cat in their house for a couple of months... I don't want to put her in a cage and while I normally use a cat-sitter, a few minute visit each day is not enough for a stretch of more than a couple of weeks..

Anyway, the reason...
Recently we discovered that my GF in Japan has developed what seems to be Stage IV (BAD) cancer and has now started chemo for it. I want to go over for a few months and help her while she has her chemo and an operation.. I would drop everything I have here to go over there, but I can't just abandon my cat.. I also don't want to give her away (who would take her?)..

I know its not really appropriate, but I am asking here because I need a solution and there are so many people on this board I hope there is *someone* who could help out.. I'm going to post this on a few other boards as well. There are good people here...

I'm willing to pay someone to take care of her (just tell me what you think would be fair (a couple hundred a month is fine)). The duration should be for not more than 3 months..

While she has been a single cat for the past 2 years or so, she grew up with another cat in the house and when she was introduced to another cat recently she was very submissive (lol.. the other cat went nuts..).

Anyway.. if interested, just email me at jron42@gmail.com

Thanks for reading all this,
john

Sorry to hear about your girlfriend. I would help out but my cat is in the middle of doing chemo, so having a stranger in the house would be bad.

There's a professional animal sitter who sits on my board.
Her retail location is closed at the moment while she looks for a new location.
She may be willing to take on your cat for the extended period.
Could not hurt to ask.

Would love to help. I wanted a cat.
My lady is allergic to the fur and I don't think this wild yorkie would get along. Lol

Hopefully someone takes your cat in.

I'll be more than happy to take your cat in if your cat is friendly with other cats.

I recently cat-sitted a friend's cat for 5 months and that cat became my cats' playmate. He just left few days ago. I own two cats and they own the whole two floors in the house. Considering your cat is submissive, we should be good. My cats are small and one of them actually is a runt and very submissive as well.

Hit me up if you still have not found anybody.

Thanks everyone...
I will get in touch soon on this..
Anyone willing is welcome to come and meet the cat before deciding.

I will, of course, make sure she visits the vet and trim her claws before she goes anywhere..

I plan to leave in approximately 6 weeks and be gone for 2 to 3 months depending on the results of my GF's chemo and when she will have her operations. I'm trying to stay positive but I think the chances of a good outcome are slim.. very slim... This sux..

well, before going further I wanted to take the cat to the vet and get her all checked out and current on her shots..

Bad news: She's getting FAT..

Good news: Its because of how I feed her and she's perfectly healthy..

So kitty is on a diet (ie, only being fed twice a day instead of constant food supply) and I can proceed with finding her some accommodations while I am in Japan.

Sorry its been slow to respond to people..
I wanted to get my cat checked at the vet and I'm in the middle of moving..

She has all her shots and a clean bill of health, just fat...

I sent PM's to a couple of people but thought I better reach as far as I could.
man, I really HATE having to do this to my poor cat...
But I don't see what else I can do.
If anyone is still interested in watching my cat please contact me as below:

cell 703-401-9101 or email me at jron42@gmail.com

I will be leaving on July 26th and returning Oct 16

BTW, update..
My GF has been thru 4 rounds of chemo so far, once each month.
The mass in her breast has reduced a little, while the mass in her pelvic bone has had no change. She will be starting a new round of chemo with a different poison on the 24th. Operation date as yet unknown, but the pelvic tumor is not operable. We have to hope that the new chemo and radiation will kill it.

Thanks,
john
