...you're doing it wrong.

I did a Metro Transit Safety Day with the WMATA Police Department. It was fucking awesome. Hung out with their SRT guys and ran through some training tactics/scenarios (mock hostage situation on a bus, rail car evacuation, etc.). Anyways, before we went out we watched some "accidents" caught surveillance videos from across the transit system. There were a bunch of jumpers and a few drunk asses who literally stumbled off the platform and onto the tracks. One video showed a game kids used to play back in the day called surfing the platform. As the trains came in and neared the end of the track (read: slowed down enough), they would jump onto that little step just in front of the doors and hang onto the train as it rolled in to a stop. In one of the videos, a kid slipped and his foot went between the train and the platform. The train drug him a good 30 yards before nearly severing his foot.

Hahaha!
Surfing the train. FAIL.

I bet Drnkmnky can share some stories. I believe he works/worked with Amtrak.
