Chevy Chase Bank costumers - not a scam - February 24, 2009, 07:28 PM

Heartland Payment System was compromised. They are an idependent processor of credit and debit card transactions for merchants in the US.

Chevy Chase will be sending out new cards with the same acct # but with new expiration dates.

I get my new card in 10 days good thing i didn't deposit my bonus check yet.

sorry to say this but it actually happened weeks ago, millions of accounts were compromised in all sorts of bank systems (the biggest breach in history of this kind, according to cnn when they broke it), check your account activities and report anything suspicious, it's taking a while for banks to figure out if it's one of their accounts since there were so many and they dont' know who got hit.

it was news weeks ago and u didn't post up!!!

Spyker - the letter just states that online banking customers should notify merchants of their new expiration dates on any recurring payments but it doesn't say there will be any interruptions...which kinda doesn't make sense - but I hope not...I got an Acerbis headlight to purchase in 1 day but I did just use my card the other day for $200+ worth of groceries and I got gas today with no problem.

chevy chase can eat me... I hate that bank with a passion. I left them a long time ago for Credit Unions.

I got the letter end of last week, no cards yet, but now I gotta go re-register my card with all the different online pay systems, it's going to be a pain in my ass.

It doesn't matter if you're at a bank or a credit union. My money only goes to my credit union, and they were part of the Heartland compromise too. It's about where you spend your money. Heartland processes the payment of the merchant, I believe.

I had no idea until I tried to make more than $250 in purchases in one day. Telco automatically dropped my credit spend limit to $250, so when I was about to make a purchase that put it over, it was declined (always fun).

In the letter that I eventually read, it said all of this as well as the day my current card would be cut off, whether or not I activated the new one that was sent.
