Chicks LOVE pie... - September 5, 2008, 03:16 PM

heres one for y'all.

I wanted something special for the skins game last night, so as I was thinking about what to cook for dinner I decided that I was also going to make pie...
(had a slice for breakfast too)

Heres my "how to woo a future ex-girlfriend key lime pie"
My ex was sooo impressed I could cook she said she dated me for my pie.

Super simple any of you idiots could make it, its actually hard to screw up.
And its not cheating that I found the recipe on the back of a juice bottle.

you will need
1/2 cup of Lime juice
I use and got the recipe from Nellie & Joe's Famous Key West Lime Juice, got it at giant. Its better than the standard from concentrate. Haven't tried fresh lime but I might someday.

1 14oz can of sweetened and condensed milk

3 egg yokes

1 pre made pie crust. I've used the standard graham, the Oreo crumb, and my favorite is the Nilla waffer crumb crust. So whatever looks good to you.

all in all the ingredients cost you like $6, can't buy a better pie for less.

Mix all your ingredients real good. Sometimes I like to add just a drop or two of green food coloring. Even if you don't it comes out a nice cream white.

pour into your crust, and place in preheated 350* oven for 15 mins. (thats the only part you can actually screw up)

after 15 mins take out and let cool for 1/2 hr or so before refrigerating for another 1 or 2.

Then once its chilled I guess you could put whatever you want on it. I usually go with whipped cream, I just gotta figure out how to keep my roommates from doing whippets off my whipped cream. Sometimes I drizzle Herseys syrup on top of the whipped cream when I want it to look real fancy.

There you go, super simple and pretty damm good! If you like key lime pie... Impress your girlfriends, you mom, or best your girlfriends mom. They'll think you can actually bake!

Use the Jello method. Just as good and not much to screw up.

R.I.P. Eric. You were truly like a younger brother to me. May you live on in all those you helped and reached out to help. You are truly missed!

tfinch: well, actually, if he did, that's fine cause it's in the pockets!

: Mike, can you feel bubbles floating around in there?

tfinch: Bubbles! Yes! Gurgly bubbles!

I just gave this a try. It was damn good, especially considering there are only 4 ingredients. She already offered to do the dinner dishes, which frankly is unprecedented. I can hear the peaceful clickity clack coming from the kitchen over the roar of the Gator game. I got a couple of drinks poured. I think it's going to be a good evening.

im gonna try this thing and see if it works its evil voodoo magic on her!

When I came to, the general back-alley ambience of the suite was so rotten, so incredibly foul. How long had I been lying there? All these signs of violence. What had happened? There was evidence in this room of excessive consumption of almost every type of drug known to civilized man since 1544 AD. What kind of addict would need all these coconut husks and crushed honeydew rinds? Would the presence of junkies account for all these uneaten french fries? These puddles of glazed ketchup on the bureau? Maybe so. But then why all this booze? And these crude pornographic photos smeared with mustard that had dried to a hard yellow crust? These were not the hoofprints of your average God-fearing junky. It was too savage. Too aggressive.

I usually add a teaspoon or three of arsenic to my pies.

Had a pie craving on the way home from work, stopped to get ingredients and couldn't decide if I wanted key lime or cherry.

So I decided to put a layer of cherry pie filling on the bottom and the key lime on top.

My two favorite pies together, it was amazing!!

Ate 1/2 a pie and ruined my appetite for dinner
