The Chinese Launch and Recover Their First Aircraft From Their "New" Carrier - November 27, 2012, 09:46 PM

“Any man who tries to be good all the time is bound to come to ruin among the great number who are not good. Hence a Prince who wants to keep his authority must learn how not to be good, and use that knowledge, or refrain from using it, as necessity requires”.

- Nicolo Machiavelli 1469-1527

It looks small...compared to ours....whats the specs on this? Was there any american involvement or any american craft building company involved?

I do like the front uplift ramp. Seems like it would help the crafts get better lift if the front blocks some of the forward air and not as much thrust needed.

Is it me or do the J-15 look like a Mutant hybrid of our F15/F14 merged together?

Hahahahahah found this clip online...

Quote:
China entered into service Tuesday its first aircraft carrier, a refitted ship purchased from Ukraine. One expert describes it as 'not cutting edge.'

shit...it looks half the size of ours...

shit i guess if they will steal an Iphone design....nothing will stop them from stealing our airplane design...

but when you put this....

F-15

Plus this...
F14

equals this...

Then......

This....

Takes a long time to steal our tech, but they are very good at it.

Anyone notice how American everything looked? It was like a bizarro world of CNN or FOX. Even the colors of the crew on the aircraft carrier.

Yeah I am old enough to know better. Thing is, I just don't care.

Hmm. No steam cats, so fewer aircraft since they need that much more deck to launch.

I remember those 'FOD walkdowns' fondly (not). We never had to march on the flight deck though. It was more like dodge, duck, dip, dive... and dodge.

It is less of an F-15 copy and more of and Su-27/35 clone.

Good jet.

i don't understand the lip at the end of the runway. the last thing you want to do when you're trying to gain airspeed is to have a pitch-up attitude.

Good jet.
It is, and the Chinese have improved upon the Russian design, after some teething issues. In addition, the Chinese have better rockets then the Russians, and its (Su-27/35) capable of carrying twice the number of rockets as the F22. It is however larger, and its radar, and rear vision capabilities are less.

F22 carries less than the F-16 for that matter so that is no surprise given that all the weapons are carried internally to serve its stealth purposes.

The Russian designs were quite good but lacked on avionics and other electronics.

Given that the Chinese have successfully cloned the iPhone, I am sure they have improved upon these weak points as well.

The Russian jets were kind of like hotrods...good performance but poor fit/finish.

There is plenty of stuff out there that will challenge the F-15, F-22, JSF, etc.

Americans have been lulled into a false sense of reality that we are that much more technologically advanced than the rest of the world and it simply isn't true. Our stuff is still the best in the world but other fleets and materials are far more updated and current.

Heck...my brother jet was as old as I am last time around. New engines and misc. stuff but the air frame was +30 years old.
